| People's mood isn't stable during a day or a week. Sometimes we feel happy or upset because of some external influence. For instance, when you get a pleasant compliment or get promoted you feel absolutely happy. And vice versa, if you understand that it's not your day and everything goes wrong you are completely upset and disappointed with your life. Sometimes your mood doesn't depend on what is going on around you, and your spirits are in accordance with your inner processes. To be upset from time to time is normal. The problem is that for certain people this moodiness becomes a normal state of mind. A permanent state of low mood and aversion to activity that can affect a person's thoughts, behavior, ideas and physical state is known as depression disorder. Depression disorder isn't just a caprice of a person, it's a serious medical dysfunction. It will not clear up of its own accord, you'll need to consult a physician and to take some medicines so as to overpass this disorder. The symptoms of depression are commonly characterized as feelings of anxiety, sadness, hopelessness and worthlessness. Sometimes people in depression feel themselves guilty or restless. It's also common for depressed people to lose interest to all kinds of activities, to become indifferent to what is happening around them. People in depression even find it difficult to concentrate on what they are doing and to remember details as well. Loss of energy, fatigue and insomnia are also typical symptoms of depression disorder. The most widespread cure for depression is psychotherapy together with administration of antidepressant drugs. The activity of the majority of antidepressants is founded on slowdown of the process of elimination of certain chemical substances from human brain. Such chemical substances are named neurotransmitters and they are important for regular brain activity. Antidepressant drugs keep neuromediators in brain for prolonged period of time, and in such a way the state of mind of a depressed person is becoming normalized. Antidepressant drugs are generally taken during four to six months. But because of their interaction with other drugs you should see a physician before taking any antidepressant drugs. |
